CHANTILLY, VA (April 26, 2004) - D.C. United forward Ronald Cerritos has been called up to the El Salvador National Team by Head Coach Juan Ramon Paredes. El Salvador will face Colombia in a friendly match on Wednesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium. Cerritos has 45 caps with the El Salvador National Team, scoring four goals. His first cap was against Yugoslavia on 11/12/95 and his first goal was a game-winner against Colombia on 5/29/99.

"This call up for Ronald is certainly well deserved," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "He has worked hard and is in great form. We wish Ronald and the El Salvador national team luck in their match against Colombia."

Cerritos, 29, joined D.C. United in 2003 from the Dallas Burn in a mid-season trade involving Ali Curtis. Cerritos tallied his first strike of the 2004 campaign against Los Angeles on April 10th. The 68th minute goal was chosen as the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. He has appeared in three of the Black-and-Red's first four games this season.

Cerritos started his MLS career in 1997 playing five years with the San Jose Earthquakes. He was named the team's Honda Most Valuable Player and Budweiser Scoring Champion for the first three seasons with the Earthquakes. Cerritos also was part of the 2001 MLS Cup Champions and notched his first playoff goal on 9/26 against Columbus Crew. Cerritos has also appeared in three MLS All-Star games.
