New York Red Bulls News Release
Up Next @ Chicago: The MetroStars will face their rival the Chicago Fire on Saturday, May 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois (TV: MSG; Radio: WADO 1280 AM). The "Red and Black" tied the rival New England Revolution 1-1 yesterday at Giants Stadium to increase their record to 2-0-1 for seven points and remain in first-place in the Eastern Conference. The Metros are looking to avenge a 1-0 defeat to the Fire in the 2003 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final at Giants Stadium on October 15, 2003.
The MetroStars will face defending MLS Cup Champion San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, May 8 at Spartan Stadium at 10:00 p.m. ET (TV: MSG; Radio: WADO 1280 AM) and will return to Giants Stadium on Saturday, May 15 to face the Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m. ET (TV: MSG; Radio: WADO 1280 AM). Tickets are available at the Continental Airlines Arena box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster by phone for callers in New Jersey (201-507-8900), New York (212-307-7171), and for Spanish-speaking customers throughout New York and New Jersey (212-307-4757).

Mexican Heritage Day at Giants Stadium: On Saturday, May 15th, the MetroStars will host Mexican Heritage Day when the MetroStars host the Chicago Fire at Giants Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. Mexican Heritage Day is the first installment of the MetroStars 2004 Heritage Day Series. The MetroStars Heritage Day Series will consist of seven special cultural events. Mexican Heritage Day will include a variety of elements to celebrate Mexican culture. The featured element is a pre-game festival with live Mexican entertainment and food.

Walker and Pope with the U.S.: MetroStars defender Eddie Pope and goalkeeper Jonny Walker have been called to the U.S. Men's National Team by U.S. Manager Bruce Arena for an international friendly against Mexico on Wednesday, April 28 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports World (English), Telemundo (Spanish) and in high definition on HDNet (English).
MetroStars captain Eddie Pope has earned 59 caps (appearances) for the U.S. and has scored five goals. Pope, most recently wore the captain's armband for the U.S. Men's National Team in a 1-1 draw against Haiti at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida on March 13. The North Carolina product earned his first appearance for the national team on November 10, 1996, in a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in a 1998 World Cup Qualifier at Richmond, Virginia.
Walker garnered his first two international caps this off-season with the U.S. National Team. His first cap came in January against Denmark, and his second came on March 13 against Haiti at the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Honduras Calls "El Lobo": MetroStars midfielder Amado Guevara was called-up to the Honduras National Team for their upcoming friendly match with Ecuador on Wednesday, April 28 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. The game will be televised on delay on Friday, April 30 on Gol TV. Guevara is the all-time appearance leader for Honduras with 79 caps, adding 15 goals for Bora Milutinovic's squad. "El Lobo" made his debut for the nation on May 5, 1994, in a 2-1 win over Peru in Miami, FL.
Jamaica Summons Ziadie: MetroStars defender Craig Ziadie was called-up to the Jamaican National Team by Manager Carl Brown for their upcoming friendly match against Venezuela on Wednesday, April 28 in Kingston, Jamaica. Ziadie has earned 19 caps for the Reggae Boyz, since making his international debut on November 20, 2002, vs. Japan in a 1-1 tie in Tokyo.
MetroStars "Relay for Life with ACS: The MetroStars announced that they have formed a partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to help promote their first-ever "Relay for Life" event at Giants Stadium.
"Relay for Life" is the ACS's signature fundraising activity, offering the community a chance to participate in the fight against cancer. The "Relay for Life" is an overnight an event, taking place at Giants Stadium on Friday, June 18th into Saturday, June 19th. The "Relay" includes teams of people walking or running around a "Relay" course throughout the night. The "Relay" course will be set up inside the Giants Stadium bubble, along with various other fun activities.
The MetroStars partnership with ACS will bring a unique element to the Giants Stadium "Relay for Life". This year's event will include an overnight soccer tournament. The 7v7 tournament will take place on the Giants Stadium field and run from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. The tournament is open to adult teams with players 18 and older.

Wolyniec Joins in on ProHealth Fair: MetroStars forward John Wolyniec joined New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington and tennis legend John McEnroe at the 7th Annual Family Health and Sports Fair at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York last weekend. Wolyniec signed autographs and answered fan questions with other athletes at the event.

Rico and Regan Assist in Soccer for Hope Clinic: MetroStars midfielder Ricardo Clark and defender/midfielder Tim Regan conducted a clinic for Soccer for Hope at Chelsea Piers in New York, NY last weekend. The duo instructed the children through a game and assisted them in drills for the clinic. After the clinic, the Metro pair signed autographs for the children and answered questions from the children ages 5-14 with life threatening diseases.

Regan Appears at Friendship Circle: MetroStars defender/midfielder Tim Regan appeared at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy yesterday in Livingston, New Jersey. Regan gave a motivational speech to the teenage volunteers, who are working with disabled youth in the area. The Illinois native stayed for autographs and photos with the volunteers and disabled youth.
