Sporting Kansas City News Release
Kansas City Returns Home to Face Colorado Rapids on "Break the Record Night", Saturday, May 1st
The Kansas City Wizards will return home on Saturday to face the Colorado Rapids at Arrowhead Stadium on May 1st at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Wizards and Price Chopper have teamed up to present "Break the Record Night" II at Saturday's game. Fans can receive a free general admission ticket to the Wizards vs. Rapids game with the purchase of qualifying items at any area Price Chopper location.
The Wizards are coming off their first loss of the season, a 1-0 decision in Dallas on April 24th, while the Rapids posted their first win of the year last weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes after back-to-back ties to open the 2004 season. Kansas City will look to continue their success against the Rapids at Arrowhead Stadium as they own a 10-3-2 all-time mark against Colorado at home and are 4-1-2 in their last seven meetings at home.
Colorado shuffled their roster over the offseason adding a foreign flare to their squad and giving the number one goalkeeping job to former MLS goalkeeper of the Year Joe Cannon. Mexican Standout Antonio de la Torre was added to bolster the Rapids back line and Haitian striker Jean Philippe Peguero will team up with veteran John Spencer on the Rapids front line. Peguero already has one goal and one assist in the Rapids first three games.
Goalkeeper Joe Cannon has also made his mark on the Rapids early in the season allowing just two goals in three games for a 0.67 GAA and picked up his first shutout in a Rapids jersey this past weekend against the defending MLS Champion San Jose Earthquakes.
Kansas City had their consecutive shutout minute streak halted by Dallas over the weekend after reaching 197 consecutive scoreless minutes, the fifth best streak to start a season in MLS history. Despite allowing the goal, the Wizards back line of Alex Zotinca, Shavar Thomas, Jimmy Conrad and Nick Garcia has fared well matching up against some of the top strikers in the league.

The U.S. and Mexico will renew their rivalry at The Cotton Bowl in Dallas with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on Telemundo and Fox Sports World. For the second time, a U.S. Men's National Team match will also be broadcast in high definition on HDNET.
