UNBEATEN BURN TO FACE CREW SATURDAY ON FOX SPORTS NET

The Burn, unbeaten three games into the 2004 season, will travel to Columbus to face the Crew this Saturday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. (CT). Saturday's match will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net in both English and Spanish and on Spanish radio on La Mejor 910 AM.

BURN/CREW SERIES NOTES

The Burn leads the all-time series vs. Columbus, 11-8-4...Columbus took two of the three meetings between the two clubs last year, winning 2-1 at home on August 23 and 3-2 in Dallas on September 13 while registering a 0-0 draw in Columbus on July 5...the Burn has just one victory in the last eight meetings vs. the Crew, posting a 1-4-3 record over that span...Dallas is 8-3-0 in home games vs. the Crew but only 3-5-4 in matches played in Columbus...14 of the 23 matches in the series have been decided by one goal...forward Jason Kreis leads all Burn scorers against Columbus with six goals and nine assists for 21 points in 18 career matches.

GARLICK NETS SECOND CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUT

Burn goalkeeper Scott Garlick, acquired from Colorado during the offseason, has been a key cog in unifying a defense that allowed a league-high 64 goals last year. In three games this season, Garlick has allowed just one goal while registering two shutouts, which is just two shutouts shy of the total amount of shutouts the Burn registered last year. Garlick has not allowed a goal since the 36th minute on opening day, a shutout streak of 234 consecutive minutes. The team record for most consecutive shutout minutes is 344, set through the first four matches of 1999.

BURN TOPS SOUTHWEST MISSOURI STATE, 4-0

Jason Kreis scored two goals and added an assist in just over 20 minutes of action as the Burn defeated Southwest Missouri State, 4-0, today at the University of Texas @ Dallas. Kreis, who has not seen any action yet this year after ACL surgery last year, started the second half and played roughly 25 minutes. Jason Thompson and Bobby Rhine also netted goals for the Burn.

BURN WITH MOST POINTS EVER TO START SEASON

The Burn's seven points through the first three matches of the 2004 season marks the best start in team history. On two other occasions (2000 & 2001), the team has won two of their first three matches and earned six points. The only other time the Burn has started a season with a three-game unbeaten streak was in 1998, when they won the first three matches of year. Two of those victories, however, came via the shootout and, as a result, the team amassed only five points through those three matches.
