August 30, 2010 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark - The Arkansas Travelers are proud to announce that outfielder Jeremy Moore and shortstop Andrew Romine have been voted to the 2010 Texas League Post-Season All-Star Team. Of all the players who appeared in a Texas League game during the 2010, only 19 are voted to the annual squad and designated as the best at their position. Team field managers, broadcasters and beat writers cast their votes during the last three weeks with votes tabulated by the Texas League office.
Moore, the Angels 6th round draft choice in 2005, currently leads the Texas League with ten triples and ranks in the top five in five offensive categories including batting average (.312 - 5th), base hits (135 - 4th), stolen bases (24 - 4th) and total bases (208 - 5th).
Along with his ten triples, the 23-year old who currently lives in Shreveport, Louisiana, has 14 doubles and 13 home runs making it three consecutive seasons that Moore has collected double figures in those doubles, triples and home runs.
After a slow start, Moore has been one of the top offensive forces in the Texas League since the start of June where he's hit .356/.405/.568 with 11 home runs and 50 runs batted in during his last 77 games. During that time, Moore's .973 OPS ranks third-best in the Texas League.
Romine, the Angels 5th round pick in 2007, leads all Texas League shortstops with a .972 fielding percentage and only 13 errors in 98 games played. Currently batting .281/.372/.369, Romine has added three home runs, 15 doubles, four triples and 32 runs batted in. He also is tied for the Texas League lead with 13 sacrifice bunts.
The 24-year old from Winter Haven, Florida has drawn raves from scouts and coaches in the Texas League for his range, arm strength and throwing accuracy.
