Rosario Named to Select Squad
August 30, 2010 - Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
Tulsa catcher Wilin Rosario has been named to the Texas League Post-Season All-Star Team that was announced today by the league office. Rosario was one of two catchers on the team that honors the top players in the league. The squad is determined by voting from Texas League managers, radio broadcasters and newspaper beat reporters.
Wilin Rosario was named to the Texas League Post-Season All-Star Game despite having his season end on August 3 because of a knee injury. (Rich Crimi) Rosario was the lone Drillers representative on the team that included 19 members. He was named an All-Star despite his season ending on August 3 with a knee injury.
In 73 games with Tulsa this year, Rosario hit .285 with 19 home runs and 52 runs batted in. His performance was peaking at the time of the injury, as he was named the TL's Player of the Month for July after hitting nine of his homers during the month.
Defensively, he threw out nearly 41% of attempted base stealers.
Northwest Arkansas has the best record in the Texas League and also has the most members on the All-Star Team with five.
Naturals' third baseman Mike Moustakas, who has been promoted to Triple A, was named the TL Player of the Year.
Brian Poldberg was named the Manager of the Year, while Frisco hurler Blake Beavan, who has now joined the Seattle Mariners' organization, was selected as the Pitcher of the Year.
Webster Garrison of Midland was chosen for the Mike Coolbaugh Coach of the Year award. Coolbaugh was the Drillers coach that was tragically killed during a game in North Little Rock.
