ROME, Ga. - Kyle Rose went 4-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, and three Rome pitchers combined on a three-hitter, as the Braves downed the Charleston RiverDogs, 6-1, in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium Thursday evening.

The Braves snap a five-game losing streak in improving to 27-39, while Charleston ends its two-game winning skein in falling to 31-35. This defeat officially marks the first losing half for the RiverDogs franchise since the second half of the 2002 campaign.

Rome ratcheted three hits in the first inning against Charleston's Kelvin Perez, taking a 1-0 lead on Jordan Kreke's RBI single.

Emerson Landoni tied the game at 1-1 with his first SAL home run with one out in the third against Rome southpaw and Southern Division All-Star Chris Masters. It was Landoni's second career home run and first since 2008.

Masters worked just 3.0 innings allowing only Landoni's home run with a walk and two strikeouts.

Rome untied the affair in the bottom half of the third scoring four times off Perez for a 5-1 advantage. Christian Bethancourt roped a two-out, two-run double to left field and Jace Whitmer contributed a check-swing RBI single to right field to highlight the frame, which was made possible when Robert Hefflinger's one-out groundball was mishandled for a Charleston error.

Bethancourt registered his second RBI double of the contest in the eighth against Francisco Gil to set the score at 6-1.

Cory Rasmus (4-4) earned the win in 4.0 scoreless relief innings, while permitting just one hit. Andrew Wilson finished the job for Rome with four punchouts in the last 2.0 frames. The performance was made much more impressive giving light to the fact that the RiverDogs knocked 22 hits on Wednesday night against Augusta in a 15-6 victory.

Perez (3-4) lost for the second time this year at State Mutual Stadium, giving up five runs - two earned - on nine hits in 6.0 innings with five strikeouts. In two starts at Rome, Perez has surrendered 16 runs on 21 hits in just 8.2 innings of work.

Landoni finished with two of Charleston's three hits and is now eight for his last nine over the past three games.

Friday's contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch with Charleston giving the ball to southpaw Josh Romanski (1-1, 4.50 ERA) and Rome sending right-hander Robinson Lopez (2-3, 3.25 ERA) to the hill.
