WINNER WINNER: West Virginia beat Hickory 5-3 in the series finale. Kyle McPherson pitched seven solid innings for his fifth win of the season, and was back by three solo home runs, including two from Kyle Morgan. Jose Hernandez also hit a home run, his second during this three game series. Duke Welker pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save.

16 AND COUNTING: Jarek Cunningham extended his current hitting streak to 16 straight with a base hit in the third inning. The second baseman is batting .371 during this stretch, which dates back to May 31, and has seen his average climb from .243 to .277 with 23 hits in 62 at bats. He has also hit three home runs and driven in 12 runs over his last 16 games. Cunningham's current streak is the longest active run in the league, and has surpassed Kyle Skipworth's 15-gamer for Greensboro as the longest in the SAL this season. Winston Salem's Brandon Short has the longest streak across all of Minor League Baseball this season at 26 games.

SLIDE STOPPED AT SIX: The Power's six game losing streak was snapped with Wednesday's win. During the six-game slide, West Virginia had been outscored 52-19, held a team batting average of .213, and had a staff earned run average of 7.71. West Virginia was swept for the first time this season when they lost the three straight to Lakewood, and the six-game losing streak was their longest since last season when the club lost seven in a row from July 13 through July 19.

ONE YEAR AGO: During their first season as a Pirates affiliate, the Power went 27-43 during the first half of the season. The club hit .154 during the first 70 games and held a staff ERA of 4.66.

POWER ALL-STARS: West Virginia placed four players on the 2010 South Atlantic League's Northern Division All-Star team. Ramon Cabrera, Aaron Baker, David Rubinstein, and Nathan Baker were selected by the managers, staff, fans, and media to compete in the mid-season classic, to be played at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina on June 22. Aaron Baker will start at designated hitter for the North, which will be managed by Hickory's Bill Richardson. Hagerstown, Hickory, and Kannapolis each placed five representatives on the squad.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia committed 11 errors during their recent three game series against Lakewood, representing 14% of the total Power errors all season... David Rubinstein had reached base safely by hit or walk in his last 22 consecutive road contests, dating back to April 25 at Kannapolis... Jhonathan Ramos became the 12th starting pitcher used by West Virginia this season when he made a spot start on Tuesday. The Power utilized 15 different starting pitchers during the 2009 campaign... Kyle Morgan joined Rogelio Noris as the only players to hit tow home runs in a game for the Power this season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-2. Pedro Alvarez made his Major league debut, going 0-2 with a walk... Indianapolis did not play... Altoona doubled up Trenton 8-4... Bradenton was shutout by St. Lucie 6-0.
