The West Virginia Power beat the Hagerstown Suns 7-5 Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. Jose Hernandez and Evan Chambers hit two run home runs in the sixth to give the Power their first lead of the night and back the bullpen in the win.

Suns starter Danny Rosenbaum matched Power starter Jason Erickson zero for zero over the first three innings and saw Hagerstown take a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a home run by J.P. Ramirez. West Virginia quickly rallied to tie in the home half of the inning when Jarek Cunningham tripled and scored on a base hit by Aaron Baker, who later crossed to tie the game on an errant pickoff attempt at third base.

The Suns regained the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth inning against reliever Mike Williams, but the Power took control for good in the home half when Jose Hernandez and Evan Chambers hit their home runs. For Hernandez, it was his third home run of the year and second in as many games. Chambers launched his eighth of the season putting him one off Rogelio Noris' team-high nine.

Hagerstown threatened in the eighth against Marc Baca. The reliever walked the leadoff man and allowed consecutive single to load the bases with no one out. The Duarte, California native struck out the next two hitters and induced an infield groundout to end the inning.

West Virginia tacked on one more run on back-to-back doubles by Jesus Brito and Kyle Morgan in the eighth inning to cap the scoring.

William (1-0) earned the win in relief of Erickson, while Baca tossed the final two innings for his third save. Kyle Morrison (1-4) allowed the Chambers home run in the sixth and took the loss. Eight out of nine Power hitters had base hits, including two by Cunningham to extend his league-best hitting streak to 17 straight games. Four different Suns' hitters had multi-hit games as Hagerstown lost despite outhitting the West Virginia 12-9.

The Power continue this four game series against the Suns at Appalachian Power Park on Friday evening at 7:05 p.m. West Virginia's Phillip Irwin will pitch against Hagerstown's Mitchell Clegg.
