Rockford splits a pair of games in week seven

After a heavy November, Rockford began a light December by splitting two road games, including a 4-1 win over the Western Division rival Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday. Goaltender Ronnie Vogel is riding a club-record tying 11-game unbeaten streak (10-0-1). Week 8 features a pair of home games, including the Hogs first ever contest with the expansion Port Huron Flags and the first visit of the season from the two-time defensding Colonial Cup Champion Muskegon Fury.

Transactions

-Defenseman Matt Gens was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Saturday, Dec. 3. -Gens was loaned to the Admirals on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Bacon Bits:

Goalie Ronnie Vogel tied an IceHogs club record with an 11-game unbeaten streak (10-0-1). J.F. Rivard set the record during the 2001-02 season, going 8-0-3 from 1/23/02-2/15/02.

Vogel is tied for the UHL lead with 10 wins.

IceHogs leading scorer Jason Notermann has a point in 14 of Rockford's last 16 games. During his hot streak, Notermann has 10g-10a-20pts.

Defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov has a point in five of his last six games, netting 2g-3a-5pts.

With the call-up of defenseman Matt Gens, the IceHogs have now loaned a UHL best six players to the American Hockey League. On Saturday, Rockford had three players in the lineup for the Milwaukee Admirals (Gens, Nathan Lutz and Preston Mizzi).

The IceHogs are averaging 16.6 penalty minutes per game over their last eight contests.

Center Olivier Proulx recently moved into sixth place all-time on the IceHogs scoring list with 87 points. Next on the chart is Jeff Antonovich who collected 103 points in a Hogs uniform.

Proulx also now ranks sixth all-time in Hogs history with 55 assists and 11th with 32 goals.

The IceHogs gave up a season-high 42 shots on Saturday against Fort Wayne, but Vogel was solid making a season high 41 saves in Rockford's 4-1 win.

Rockford is 5-1-0 on the road against the UHL's Western Division but 0-3-0 versus the Central Division.

Hot Hog Week 7:

Defenseman Evgueni Noruislamov is Rockford's Player of the Week nominee for Week 7. Nourislamov has a point in five of his last six games, netting 2g-3a-5pts and scored a goal in both games over the weekend. Overall, Nourislamov ranks fourth in the UHL for defenseman with a plus/minus rating of +12

Upcoming Games:

Friday, December 9 vs Port Huron Flags. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Hogs return home to face the expansion Flags for the first time ever. The first 1,000 fans 21-and-older will receive an IceHogs Jersey Koozie from Miller Lite and 13WREX.

Saturday, December 10 vs Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The two-time defending champs come to Rockford for the first time this season. The first 1,500 fans will receive an IceHogs Tumbler Mug from McDonald's. Also, don't forget a Teddy Bear! The game is the Hogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss and after Rockford scores their first goal, fans can throw the bears onto the ice. All the stuffed bears will be collected and donated to local hospitals and charities for children.

HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:

HogTalk returns tonight at Shooter's North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson each Monday. Also this week, Tom Zabkowicz and Olivier Proulx will be there to talk Hogs hockey and meet fans. And a reminder, HogTalk will not be held on Monday, December 26, due to the Christmas Holiday.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, 1330 AM WNTA. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune into Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the 10th Inning Bar and Grill Post-Game Call-In Show following each home game at (815) 874-8255.

The Rockford IceHogs would like to extend an apology to all the Hogs fans who have tried to listen or view the broadcast on icehogs.com through the B2 Networks when the team is in Fort Wayne. The Komets have chosen not to adhere to league rules and do not have B2 Network access in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at this time. IceHogs fans can catch all the Hogs games, home and away via broadcast and video through the B2 Network on icehogs.com all season, with the exception of the games played in Fort Wayne. The UHL is currently addressing the situation in Fort Wayne and we will let you know if anything changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have created.
