
Groenestege Wins League Honor

RICHMOND, VA-The Richmond RiverDogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that Doug Groenestege has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 4, 2005. The native of Mitchell, ON finished the week with a 1-0-1 record, a 1.00 goals against average and whopping save percentage of .972. Friday against Adirondack, Doug stopped 28 of 29 shots in a shootout loss and Saturday he stopped 42 shots enroute to a 4-1 win over Elmira. Groenestege is third in the league with a 2.27 goals against average and leads all UHL goaltenders with a .939 save percentage. This is the first weekly honor won by a RiverDogs player this season.
