New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced two player moves today, and one involves the League's RBI leader - Ray Chang - departing the Hardware City for Triple-A Rochester.

INF Ray Chang was in his first season in New Britain after having been signed by the Rock Cats' parent club - the Minnesota Twins - as a free agent last December. While the 27-year-old Third Baseman's first stint in Connecticut was a brief one - he wore a New Britain uniform for just 23 games - it was most productive. The 6'0"/210-pound Rockhurst University (MO) product hit .270 with 9 Doubles, 1 HR, and 22 RBI, tying the seven-year pro for the League lead. A member of Team China in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, Chang (w/Portland) was cited by Baseball America as the Best Defensive Third Baseman in the Eastern League in 2010. He will join the Red Wings in Rochester in time for a 9-game homestand that starts at Frontier Field tomorrow night.

C/OF Chris Herrmann, a 23-year-old native of Tomball, TX who was selected by Minnesota out of the University of Miami in the 6th Round of the 2009 Draft, will join the Rock Cats today from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. At 6'0"/195-pounds, Herrmann has shown good versatility at the Single-A level, appearing both as a Catcher (6) and corner Outfielder (18). As a member of the 2011 Miracle, Herrmann batted .310 over 24 games. His offensive numbers include 5 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 Home Run and 16 RBI. He will join the Rock Cats tonight in time for their 6:35 PM game against Richmond at New Britain Stadium.
