Rock Cats Have Late Day Player Transaction

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced late this afternoon that their starting Second Baseman, 25-year-old Steve Singleton, has been promoted to Rochester in the International League. It is the University of San Diego product's first advancement to the Triple-A classification.

The 5'11"/181-pound Singleton - Minnesota's 11th Round pick in the 2006 Draft - spent portions of the last three seasons in New Britain, appearing in a total of 205 games for the Rock Cats. In 2010, the Oakland, CA resident tied for the Eastern League lead in Doubles (43) while hitting .267 over a team-leading 138 games played.

Singleton performed in 21 games for the 2011 Rock Cats and departs with 11 Doubles - second best in the circuit - and a .284 Batting Average. The left-handed swinging Singleton will be in uniform for the Red Wings tomorrow night when they open a 9-game homestand at Frontier Field.

There is no corresponding move at this time to fill the vacated spot on the New Britain roster.
