Rochester Strikes Early, Beats Bisons 8-3

The Bisons fell to the Rochester Red Wings Friday night, losing 8-3 to their International League North rival. James Beresford's RBI double sparked a four-run bottom of the first inning for Rochester, which was capped off by a two-run home run from Adam Walker. It was a big night for Walker, who went 3-4 at the plate.

Chris Leroux settled down after a shaky first inning, as he delivered his longest outing so far this season, lasting 6.0 innings. The righty retired 13 of 14 Red Wings hitters at one point. That was until the sixth inning, when Rochester tacked on two insurance runs, with RBI from Kennys Vargas and David Murphy.

Leroux was saddled with his first loss of the year. Upon entering in the seventh, Reliever Bobby Korecky gave up five hits and two runs, with one earned, in his third appearence of the year.

The Red Wings totaled 13 hits off Buffalo pitching, with every hitter besides Wilfredo Tovar collecting at least one hit.

Matt Dominguez connected for his third homer of the year, delivering a blast off David Martinez in the eighth. Dominguez came into Friday's contest batting .578 in his last five games, and extended his hit streak to six games with his home run. Jio Mier supplied the only other run for the Herd, driving in Casey Kotchman with a RBI single in the fifth inning.

Rochester's starter, Logan Darnell, pitched six strong innings, en route to his first victory of the season.

Saturday's game will be the middle game of a three game set from Frontier Field, with first pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Dustin Antolin will start for Buffalo for the first time this season. Antolin will replace Saturday's original starter, Drew Hutchison, who was recalled to Toronto on Friday.

BISONS NOTES

Chad Girodo was recalled to Toronto before Friday's game, following the announcement of Chris Colabello's 80-game PED suspension...The Bisons' five-run loss was the team's second largest defeat of the year, behind only Tuesday's 7-0 defeat to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre...David Adams' double in the fourth was his first extra base hit of the season, and just his fourth hit of the year... The Bisons' record now sits at 7-9, good for third place in the International League North.
