Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Buffalo Bisons tallied four unanswered runs to score a 6-5 victory at PNC Field on Thursday night. The Bisons (7-8) charged back to score their third victory in four tries against the RailRiders (8-6).

SLUMP BUSTER: Catcher Gary Sanchez entered last night in a 1-for-16 slump, but bashed his second home run of the season. Six of his seven hits this season have gone for extra bases.

SLAMMING THE GAVEL: With a broken-bat single in the ninth last night, Aaron Judge has hit safely in 12 of his 13 games played including seven straight. He has slashed .315/.339/.500/.839 by going 17-for-54 with six extra-base hits. He has been particularly effective against right-handed pitchers (13-for-35, 4XBH, .371/.410/.543/.953). Judge has hit second in all of his games played thus far, something he did in just 10 of his 61 games played at Triple-A a season ago. Most of his SWB time last year came in the four (21 games) or five-hole (27 games). However, he mostly hit second at Double-A in 2015 (30 games) and at both levels his best performances came in the two hole. At Double-A last year he slashed .310/.370/.579/.949 batting second. At Triple-A, the numbers stood .333/.413/.385/.798. Judge also boasts a pair of outfield assists. Only Buffalo's Junior Lake (4) has more in IL play entering tonight.

FOUR SCORE AND TWO SWINGS AGO: Judge's four RBIs on Tuesday fell one shy of his career-high mark of five set on July 1, 2014. With Advanced-A Tampa, he went 2-for-3 in a 14-2 win at Lakeland with a double, a homer, two walks and a bruise.

SWISHALICIOUS: Nick Swisher finished Wednesday's game 2-for-3 with the team's lone walk. In six games played with SWB he has gone 8-for-21 with a pair of extra-base hits slashing .381/.440/.571/1.011. His splits have seen him have similar success against lefties (.375) and righties (.385).

GETTING DEFENSIVE: Despite committing their fifth error of the season last night, the RailRiders stand tied with Gwinnett for the fewest miscues in the International League. The club assembled a seven-game error-free stretch from April 8-15 and owns a .990 fielding percentage that trails only Gwinnett (.991). Thursday night's mistake means the RailRiders have been charged with an error in consecutive games for the first time in 2016. Last year's unit finished fifth in the IL with a .982 fielding percentage. The franchise last led the loop in fielding percentage at .983 when it did not have a home stadium en route to a division title in 2012.

LET'S GET SERIESOUS: Last night's loss handed the RailRiders their first home series setback since dropping two of three versus Syracuse from July 7-9, 2015. That included a 12-inning middle-game defeat at PNC Field. SWB's last home series loss in a four-game set? It came the prior series against Buffalo from July 4-6, 2015 including a July 5 day-night doubleheader.

OFF THE RAILS: Donovan Solano started at shortstop for the first time with SWB...Entering the season, Solano had seen time at short in 404 of his 801 career minor league games...The RailRiders turned a season-high-tying three double plays last night, lifting their season-long total to 17...Gwinnett (20) leads the league in twin-killings while Charlotte/Rochester are tied for second at 18...SWB last paced the IL in double plays in 2005 when the then-Red Barons turned 175 of them...The RailRiders have lost back-to-back games for the first time all season.
