DO THE SAMBA: The Rochester Red Wings tonight close out their 4-game series with Louisville (Reds) and tomorrow welcome Gwinnett (Braves) for the start of another 4-game series. Rochester will take Wednesday off and then hit the road for 8 games, including a pair of 4-game sets at Gwinnett and Charlotte (White Sox).

a The Red Wings' game vs. Gwinnett on Tuesday at 11:05 a.m. (5:05 a.m. in Hawaii) will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Sports and simulcast nationally on MLB Network.

a Beginning tomorrow, the Red Wings will play 8 straight games against Gwinnett. The club hasn't had that long of a stretch against one team since playing Louisville 8 games in a row June 9-17, 2007. The Wings went 3-5 in those games to quickly wrap up the season series.

BASEBALL MONTH IN ROCHESTER: The Red Wings and Monroe County have proclaimed May as "Baseball Month in Rochester." Frontier Field is hosting games on 26 of the 31 days in the month, as the Empire State Yankees share the downtown ballpark with the Red Wings. Today in Rochester for the Louisville-Red Wings game:

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA: The Red Wings last night played their 2nd extra-inning game, an 11-inning affair that is the club's longest of the year. The Wings lost 5-4 in 8 innings in the first game of an April 26 doubleheader vs. Syracuse (Nationals).

a Rochester went 18 games into the season without playing extra innings until that April 26 contest vs. Syracuse. It was the longest such streak to start a season since 2003, when the Red Wings played 11 innings in their 31st game May 7 at Durham (Rays). The Wings won 4-3 that day.

a The Red Wings played 12 extra-inning games in 2011, including 2 against Louisville. The Wings went 4-8 in those contests, including a 2-0 mark against the Bats.

NEW YEAR, SAME RECORD: Rochester has started its season 16-24 for the 2nd straight year. The Red Wings last year lost their 41st game, a 9-3 setback vs. Syracuse. Should the Wings win tonight, it would mark their best 41-game start since the 2009 club went 21-20.

a The Red Wings are 7-10 in May, yet are in within reach of their first winning calendar month since August 2009, when they went 17-15.

a Sean Burroughs leads current Red Wings with a .313 (10-for-32) average in 11 games in May.

SERIES BUSINESS: A victory tonight would give t he Red Wings their first win of a series longer than 2 games. Each of Rochester's 3 series wins have been 2-game sweeps: April 5-6 at Syracuse, April 20-22 vs. Lehigh Valley (Phillies), and May 5 vs. Buffalo (Mets). The Wings have split 3 of their 4 four-game series.

a The Red Wings have won 3 of their last 4 season series against Louisville, the lone loss coming in 2010 with a 3-5 record.
