Road Warriors Roll by Stingrays 3-1

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors (7-5-0-0) dropped the South Carolina Stingrays (8-5-0-1) 3-1 at the Bi-Lo Center Tuesday night.

The Road Warriors opened the scoring with a shorthanded penalty-shot goal from forward Brendan Connolly at 6:27 of the first period beating Stingrays goaltender Philipp Grubauer (L, 29 saves on 32 shots) over the glove from between the faceoff circles.

Road Warriors forward Jason Wilson made it a two-goal lead at 18:22 of the second period from forwards Justin Bowers and Jeff Prough.

Bowers gave the Road Warriors a 3-0 lead at 2:27 of the final frame from Prough and defenseman Jyri Niemi. The Stingrays jumped on the board at 17:14 with a goal from rookie Sean Dolan beating Road Warriors keeper Nic Riopel (W, 36 saves on 37 shots) under the blocker from the bottom of the left-wing circle. Forward Trent Campbell picked up the lone assist. The Stingrays went 0-for-2 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 0-for-4.

The Stingrays kick off a three-game in three-night series against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday, November 18 at 7:35 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
