Condors Tripped up by Stockton, 4-2

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder (5-3-1-2, 13pts) grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period of play and went on to double up the Bakersfield Condors (5-9-1-0, 11pts) 4-2 in front of 6,145 fans on Businesspersons Special/Field Trip Day at Rabobank Arena Tuesday morning. The Condors now head to Colorado on Friday and Saturday to take on the Eagles in Loveland for the first time in team history.

Stockton tallied twice in the first period with F Gabriel Levesque scoring off a faceoff at 1:06, and F Bretton Cameron recording his third goal of the season at 19:21. Condos RW Jesse Gimblett squared off with D Cameron Abney in a heavyweight bout early in the period. Shots favored Stockton, 11-8.

Bakersfield pulled one goal back in the second period on the power play when RW Ian McKenzie found F Peter Boyd all alone in front of G Thomas Heemskerk at the 15:47 mark. It was Boyd's third goal of the season and cut the lead to 2-1. Gimblett fought for the second time, this time against F Garet Hunt, with both players landing punches midway into the frame. Shots were 10-7 for Stockton.

Hunt regained Stockton's two-goal advantage 7:37 into the third period as he stuffed a backhanded shot around G Bryan Pitton to extend the Thunder lead to 3-1. Gimblett would add a goal to his two fights at the 11:13 mark off a feed from D Jimmy Martin to make it 3-2 Stockton. It would be as close as the Condors would get though as F Kevin Baker added an empty-net goal to make the final, 4-2.
