IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals play a "Youth Education Day" game at WesBanco Arena at 11:05 a.m. against the Wheeling Nailers. The Jackals are looking to get back into the win column after falling on Sunday in Reading to the Royals, 6-2. Wheeling salvaged its three-game series in Florida with a 4-1 victory on Saturday over the Everblades.
EARLY RISERS
The Jackals are playing in a education day morning game for the second-straight season. Last year, Elmira participated in a 10:30 a.m. school-day game in Toledo on Nov. 3, and despite not arriving in town until around 2 a.m. on the day of the game, the Jackals schooled the Walleye, 4-1.
SEARCHING FOR A WIN IN WHEELING
Elmira has not won in Wheeling's WesBanco Arena in over 21 months, having last secured a victory in West Virginia on Feb. 13, 2010. The Jackals have lost each of their last two games in Wheeling. Last year, Elmira took a 3-0 lead in the first period of its only game in Wheeling but dropped a 5-4 OT decision to the Nailers on Nov. 7. On Oct. 22 of this season, the Jackals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period but were overcome by Wheeling in a 3-2 defeat.
