Gwinnett, GA: The Road Warriors surrounded seven goals in a 7-3 loss on Friday night against the Gwinnett Gladiators.
On Kyle Jean's first shift back in the ECHL, he created space for Bretton Cameron who scored his seventh goal of the season. Cameron waited out goaltender Mark Guggenberger along the crease for his sixth point in seven games. Chris Culligan tied the game at one with his second goal of the season in his third game played. The rookie scored on a one-timer in the slot with a pass from Joey Haddad.
Seven minutes into the second period, the Gladiators took the lead with a deflection goal by Maxime Legault. The goal occurred after a face-off win by Joey Haddad that Eriks Sevcenko shot for Legault's 15th of the year. Dirk Southern extended the lead to 3-1 with a power play goal. Southern scored his 15th of the year on a rebound shot from Sevcenko. Gwinnett continued with the offense and scored three minutes later on a goal from Mike Merrifeld for his 17th of the year. Andrew Rowe snapped the Gladiators momentum and found the back of the net on a breakaway. Rowe's backhand toe-drag fooled Guggenberger for his team-leading 28th of the season.
The Gladiators scored three-straight during the third period with goals from Marshall Everson, Merrifield and Josh Currie. Sevcenko assisted on the final two Gladiators' goals to give him four points on the night. Sam Noreau scored his first professional goal on a slap shot with under two minutes left to put Greenville down 7-3. That goal was the final score of the night that left goaltender Jeff Malcolm with the loss, saving 29 shots.
