Eagles Fall 3-2 to the Steelheads in a Shootout

BOSIE, Idh. -The Colorado Eagles (31-24-7-5) were denied all five of their shootout attempts to fall 3-2 to the Idaho Steelheads (37-25-3-4) on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Less than five minutes into the first frame Eagles rookie forward Todd Fiddler stuffed home a pass from defenseman Jason Beatty to give the Eagles the early 1-0 lead.

Steelheads forward Luke Judson tied the game, 1-1, as he beat Eagles netminder Dustin Butler with a shot from the right faceoff circle 4:27 into the second period.

With just over seventeen minutes left in the third frame, Idaho forward Gaelan Patterson picked up a rebound in the low slot to give the Steelheads their first lead of the game 2-1. Less than four minutes later, Eagles forward Jesse Mychan tipped in a shot from the point from defenseman Kevin Young to tie the score once more, 2-2.

The Eagles and Steelheads headed into 4-on-4 sudden death overtime with the score tied at 2-2. Overtime quickly turned into a shootout where Butler saved three of the four shots that Idaho dealt, while Steelheads goalie Josh Robinson shutdown all five of Colorado's shots to secure the Steelhead's 3-2 victory.

The Eagles take on the Steelheads once more on Saturday in Idaho at 7:05pm.
