Asheville Tourists News Release

LEXINGTON - The Asheville Tourists polished off their seven-game road trip with a 7-2 victory over the Lexington Legends on Tuesday night. Will Gaddis earned the win by pitching six innings and Todd Czinege collected a pair of RBI hits in his first game with the Tourists.

Asheville jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third. The Tourists plated their first run on a Legends error and Czinege drove in the second with a double off the right field wall.

Asheville added two more runs in the top of the third. Once again, the first run scored on a Legends error and Czninge made it 4-0 with an RBI single to third. The four-run lead was more than enough for the starting pitcher Gaddis.

Asheville's right-hander pitched six innings, scattered six hits, and limited the Legends to only one run; a solo Home Run by Sebastian Rivero. Gaddis has surrendered only five runs in his last four starts combined.

Chad Spanberger provided the insurance in the top of the seventh. Spanberger hit a three-run Home Run to right field to put the Tourists up 7-1. Lexington managed one run over the final three frames.

Spanberger, Czniege, Casey Golden, and Sean Bouchard all finished with two hits. The Tourists wrapped up their road trip with a winning record and have now played ten of their 11 games since the All-Star Break on the road.

Asheville returns home to McCormick Field for an Independence Day game against the Rome Braves. Tickets to tomorrow's contest in Asheville are sold out.
