
Legends Split Series with Tourists

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends and Asheville Tourists met for the series finale, but Lexington fell in game four, splitting the series. The Legends fell 7-2 and now drop to 41-39 on the season while the Tourists improve to 34-46.
The Tourists plated their first runs in the top of the second. Chad Spanberger lined a leadoff double to left field then scored on a bunt single down the third base line by Casey Golden. Golden was able to score on an RBI single to right field by Todd Czinege and Asheville led 2-0.
In the top of the third, Matt McLaughlin deposited a single to left field and swiped second base. Sean Bouchard then drew a walk to put runners at first and second. Golden put down another RBI single down the third base line scoring McLaughlin. Czinege then had his second RBI single of the game, scoring Bouchard and Asheville led 4-0.
The Legends got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Sebastian Rivero blasted a solo homer to left field, making it 4-1.
Asheville scored their final runs of the game in the top of the seventh. Ryan Vilade hit a single to centerfield then moved to third on a double to right field by Bouchard. Spanberger brought them both home with a three-run home run to left field, extending Asheville's lead 7-1.
Lexington scored one more in the bottom of the seventh. Cristian Perez smashed his first home run of the season to make it a 7-2 ballgame.
Will Gaddis was awarded the win for the Tourists, tossing 6.0 innings allowing one run on six hits while walking three and striking out three. Yefri Del Rosario was given the loss, pitching 6.0 innings allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out three.
The Legends will next travel to face the Power in West Virginia before returning to Whitaker Bank Ballpark on July 7 at 6:35 p.m. to take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
