ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia steamrolled the GreenJackets on Monday, 16-8. The longest nine-inning game in franchise history (3:51) featured 24 total runs, 27 hits and 40 baserunners (who reached safely). 333 pitches were thrown in the tilt.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Fireflies set numerous season and franchise highs during Monday's game:
- 16 runs - tied the franchise record for a single game (previously 16 runs @ Lexington on July 19, 2017)
- 7 extra-base hits - matches a season-high
- 8-run margin of victory - ties a season-high
- 6 total hit by pitches - Columbia and Augusta nearly matched a SAL record for one game (record is 7)
BY THE NUMBERS, Pt. II: But wait, there's more!
- Scott Manea, 6 RBIs - matches a franchise record for most RBIs in one game (previously Dash Winningham on May 29, 2017 vs. Augusta)
- Quinn Brodey, 1st-inning grand slam - the second grand slam of the season hit by a Firefly (Gio Alfonzo, May 5 vs. Lakewood)
- 3 home runs - for the third time in eight days, Columbia mashed three or more homers in one game
CATCHING FIRE: Hansel Moreno has reached safely in 13 of his last 14 games (the switch-hitter is batting .340 - 17-for-50 - during that stretch which dates back to June 8). The 21-year-old was batting .177 on June 5 and has since raised his average to .240.
ROSTER MOVES: Anthony Kay earned a promotion to advanced-A St. Lucie and Aaron Ford was placed on the DL. In return, righties Nicholas Debora and Ronald Sanchez were transferred to Columbia from short-season A Brooklyn
JUNE STARS: The Fireflies finished June with an 11-14 record but the pitching staff posted a superb 3.27 ERA. Ten different hurlers wound up with sub-3.00 ERAs during the month.
