Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists opened up a six-game series in Bowling Green on Tuesday. The Hot Rods dealt the Tourists a 5-1 defeat in Asheville's first road contest of the year. Bowling Green held Asheville's offense, which produced 44 runs over their first five games, to only one run on three hits.
Alex Holderbach, Wilyer Abreu, and Luis Santana were the three Tourists who recorded base hits in the contest. Holderbach and Santana each notched a hit in the fifth inning which helped lead to the Tourists lone run.
Ruben Cardenas' two-run Home Run in the bottom of the fourth inning proved to be enough for the Hot Rods. The home team added an insurance run in each of the final three frames.
Jose Bravo started and pitched well for Asheville. The right-hander went four innings and struck out five. Blair Henley followed with 3.1 innings and also struck out five Hot Rods.
Unfortunately, the strikeout was a big factor on the other side as well. The Tourists hitters struck out a total of 13 times; nine of which were induced by Bowling Green starter Peyton Battenfield.
Asheville and Bowling Green are scheduled to face off in game two on Wednesday night. The first pitch is slated for 7:35pm ET.
