Road Trip Begins with 4-2 Win at Prince George

Prince George, BC - The Calgary Hitmen opened a five-game B.C. Division road trip with a 4-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night at CN Centre.

The turning point came less than two minutes into the second period. With Calgary leading 2-0 they pushed the advantage to 4-0 when Riley Fiddler-Schultz and Adam Kydd netted goals 42 seconds apart. Carson Focht and Josh Prokop counted the other Calgary markers while Orca Wiesblatt and Dakota Krebs notched two assists each.

Filip Koffer and Josh Maser were the only Cougars to beat Hitmen goaltender Brayden Peters who made 26 saves to record his 14th win of the season. Taylor Gauthier and Tyler Brennan combined to make 27 stops for Prince George on a night where Calgary outshot the home side 31-28.

The Hitmen, 30-18-4-1, continue their road swing on Family Day Monday, Feb. 15 with a matinee in Kelowna against the 2020 Memorial Cup host Rockets. Calgary will then head to Victoria (Feb. 19), Vancouver (Feb. 21) and Kamloops (Feb. 22).

The next Hitmen home game is not until Thursday, Feb. 27 against Winnipeg in the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying Game. Game time is 11:00 a.m. for the educational event that will see more than 12,000 students in attendance learn about acceptance and bullying prevention.
