Riversharks Crush Patriots 10-2

Bridgewater, NJ- The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 10-2 in front of 6,387 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening in the second game of a day-night double header.

Camden scored to get on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single by Billy Rice.

The Riversharks rallied to plate six runs in the fourth on a two run double by D'Angelo Jimenez, a two run homerun by Juan Martinez (3), and two run double by Yasser Gomez for the 7-0 advantage.

Somerset finally got on the board in the sixth after Jonny Tucker came around to score on an error by shortstop Wilson Valdez to make the score 7-1.

A two run ground rule double by Salomon Manriquez in the top of the eighth brought home two more runs for Camden. Jimenez topped it off with a sacrifice fly to right to plate the third run of the inning and extend their lead to 10-1.

An RBI base hit by Bobby Stevens in the ninth inning brought home Somerset's second run for the 10-2 final.

Camden starter Jake Hale (1-0) got the win, allowing a run in six innings of work. Somerset starter Paul Phillips (4-4) got the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in four innings pitched.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday with a 5:05 pm game against the Camden Riversharks. The game includes a Stars 'N' Stripes Celebration presented by Operation Shoebox New Jersey that features Cinch Sacks for the first 1,500 fans and a game worn jersey auction.
