Patriots Defeat Riversharks 6-2

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 6-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday afternoon for the first game of a day-night double header. The game counted towards the first half standings, making the Patriots first half record 46-24.

The Patriots scored three runs in the second on a solo homerun by Cory Aldridge (5), an RBI double by Bobby Stevens, and a sacrifice bunt by Dan Hennigan for the 3-0 lead.

A two run single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve in the fifth added to the lead for Somerset and made the score 5-0.

The Patriots added their final run on an error in the bottom of the sixth that allowed Kevin Kotch to score to make the score 6-0.

The Riversharks got on the board in the top of the seventh on a two-run home run by Johnny Drennen (4) for the 6-2 final.

Derell McCall (3-0) picked up the win with five scoreless innings pitched. Ryan Kulik (1-5) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings pitched.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday with a 5:05 pm game against the Camden Riversharks. The game includes a Stars 'N' Stripes Celebration presented by Operation Shoebox New Jersey that features Cinch Sacks for the first 1,500 fans and a game worn jersey auction.
