Skeeters Win Big, 11-1 over the Blue Crabs

On Saturday, the Skeeters won 11-1, taking the first two games of this three-game series. A wild Wade Korpi gave up three in the first and Adam Godwin leadoff the fourth with a homerun, as the Skeeters jumped out in front to a 4-0 lead. It was a five run fifth that put the game out of reach though, highlighted by a Reid Gorecki grand slam, to put Sugar Land up 9-0. The Skeeters scored two in the ninth on the third and fourth errors of the night for Southern Maryland and were in front 11-0. They finally allowed a run themselves in the bottom of the ninth to All-Star Cyle Hankerd who homered, to break up a string of 17 consecutive scoreless innings in this series, but go on to win by ten.

Up Next : On Sunday the final day before the All-Star break and last game of this three-game series against the Blue Crabs, Sugar Land sends out LHP Gilbert De La Vara (2-0, 3.41) vs. All-Star RHP Ian Marshall (7-3, 3.77) for Southern Maryland.
