York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution nabbed a second straight win with a 4-0 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers on Saturday night in front of 4,712 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs have also now won four straight against the Barnstormers, taking an 8-4 lead in this year's War of the Roses Series. The Revs will go for a series sweep on Sunday at 5 p.m. in the final game before the All-Star Break.

York scored all four runs in the bottom of the third inning, while only managing one hit the rest of the night. The rally began when Cody Johnson worked a leadoff walk. Manny Mayorson then laid down a sacrifice bunt, and first baseman Daryle Ward was charged with an error when he failed to cover first base, as both runners were safe. A wild pitch advanced both runners, and Johnson then scored the first run on a groundout to short by Ruddy Yan. Eric Patterson followed with a walk, and Wilson Batista lined an RBI single to center for the second run. Patterson and Batista both advanced on a double steal, and Andres Perez filled the bases after reaching on an infield single. Andy Marte then ripped a two-run double off the Arch Nemesis, capping the big inning.

Revs starter Pedro Liriano (3-2) worked five innings to pick up the win. Out of the bullpen, Edward Paredes tossed a scoreless sixth, Julio DePaula fired a pair of scoreless frames, and Michael Wuertz worked past a leadoff double by Olmo Rosario in the ninth, striking out the final two hitters to preserve the Revs' third shutout win of the season. It was their second 4-0 shutout against Lancaster in the last two Saturday nights.

Barnstormers starter Derrick Loop (1-4) suffered the loss, despite working five 1-2-3 innings out of six. He retired the final 11 batters, but was done in by the big third inning, charged with three earned runs out of the four total.

The Revs have won eight of the last ten overall against Lancaster, and will take a season-long 15-inning scoreless streak into Sunday's game. Lancaster has now dropped seven straight overall.

York 's Brett Tomko (2-6, 5.18) will face Lenny DiNardo (4-4, 5.46) in Sunday's finale at 5 p.m. Pregame activities include a 19th century baseball demonstration. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
