Rivermen Tie Series in Overtime

April 2, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Peoria, IL -- The Peoria Rivermen evened their best-of-five series with the Cincinnati Cyclones by winning 2-1 in sudden death overtime on Wednesday at Carver Arena.

Peoria scored the game-winning goal just 3:15 into the extra session when Greg Davis wristed a shot past Greg Hewitt from the left circle.

The Cyclones had the game's opening goal just 6:40 into the first period. Forward Paul Strand dove to deflect home a rebound of a Nick Bootland shot to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead after one period.

In the second period, Peoria would capitalize on one of their four power-play chances in the frame. Defenseman Lauri Kinos blasted home a 60-foot slapshot from the right point that eluded Greg Hewitt into the Cincinnati net to tie the game at 1-1.

The series shifts to Cincinnati for Games Three and Four. Game Three will be played at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday at 7:05 PM.
