FRESNO, Calif. – The West Coast Hockey League has named Falcons centerman Colin Embley as its Rookie of the Year.

Embley leads all WCHL first-year players with 43 points. He is the leading rookie goal scorer with 24 and is second with 19 assists. Embley also has five game-winning goals, while no other rookie has recorded more than one, and along with teammate Scott Borders is tied for the rookie lead with seven power play markers.

He becomes the second Falcon in team history to have won Rookie of the Year, following on the heels of goaltender David Mitchell, who won the award during the 2000-2001 season.

The Falcons wrap up the regular season this Friday and Saturday in Long Beach against the Ice Dogs before taking on the Idaho Steelheads in the first round of the Taylor Cup Playoffs. Fresno's title defense gets underway with Games One and Two of the best-of-seven series on Apr. 11 and 12 in Boise at the Bank of America Centre.
