
Rivermen Release Gannon and Carroll

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has released forward Andrew Carroll and defenseman Jake Gannnon from their professional tryout contracts.
Gannon, 23, appeared in Sunday's win over the Lake Erie Monsters in his most recent stint with the Rivermen. Earlier this season he spent 15 games with Peoria between he was signed on Nov. 5 and Dec. 8. He registered one assist and skated to a plus-four rating in his time with the club. He has spent the rest of the season with the ECHL Utah Grizzlies, where he serves as the team captain, and collected seven points (one goal, six assists) in his 10 games.
On Thursday, the ECHL announced that Gannon had been named an alternate captain for the ECHL All-Star Classic which will take place on Wednesday in Bakersfield, Calif.
Last season, Gannon also split time between the AHL and ECHL. Under contract with the New York Islanders, he appeared in 26 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) where he had two goals and two assists. In 38 games with the Grizzlies he collected six points (two goals, four assists).
Carroll, 25, spent 14 games with the Rivermen and recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and 15 penalty minutes. He originally signed with the Rivermen on Dec. 16. Prior to joining Peoria, he was a member of the ECHL Greenville Road Warriors. In nine games this season, he has registered nine points (six goals, three assists) and six penalty minutes. He has also spent time with the Abbotsford Heat this year on a PTO. He had a goal and an assist in 13 games before being sent back to Greenville.
Last season as a rookie, the 5-foot-11-inch, 195-pound winger put up an impressive 47 points (30 goals, 17 assists) in 61 games for the ECHL Charlotte Checkers. His 30 goals were 13th in the league and fourth among all ECHL rookies. He saw his first AHL action by appearing in four games with the Hartford Wolfpack. A native of Shoreview, Minn., Carroll played four seasons at the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
