San Jose Sharks Assign Left Wing John McCarthy to Worcester

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned left wing John McCarthy to the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate

McCarthy, 24, has posted four points (2-24) in 26 games with San Jose this season. He missed 17 games on Injured Reserve with an upper body injury from Dec. 15 through Jan. 17. A rookie, he scored his first career NHL goal on Oct. 23 at Edmonton.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Boston, Massachusetts was selected by San Jose in the seventh round (202nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
