Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans Reading Power Play program concludes this week with defenseman Adam Comrie visiting two libraries tonight and Tuesday.
The Amerks Reading Power Play begins with Comrie swinging by the Rochester Public Library (115 South Avenue) for a 6:30 p.m. visit tonight. Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., he'll be at the Pittsford Community Library (24 State Street) to bring this season's program to a close.
The Amerks return home and hit the ice again on Wednesday, January 26thwhere they will face the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
Tonight and tomorrow, however, Comrie will show off his reading prowess, not his on-ice skills. He will be joined by The Eagle this evening and The Moose Tuesday, as he teaches kids about hockey and the importance of reading. The "Reading Power Play" involves players stopping by local libraries, reading to kids and giving a hockey demonstration. Each appearance also features a raffle for Amerk memorabilia and an autograph session by the visiting player and The Moose.
At each event, the Amerks will distribute ticket vouchers to each youth in attendance good for one complimentary ticket for any future Amerks home game. Additional discounted tickets in the 200-Ends can also be purchased for as little as $10.00 with the opportunity to upgrade to another section of choice.
The second half of "Reading Power Play" enters kids into a grand prize drawing. Youth participants fill out a form for every three books they read, which then qualifies them for an entry into the grand prize drawing. The two winners will receive grand prize packages that include dinner, suite tickets and the opportunity to make the ceremonial puck drop at the Amerks' Sunday, February 13th home game against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The "Reading Power Play" runs from Thursday, October 14th to Tuesday, January 25th. A complete reading program schedule will be available at the Amerks Guest Services Booth in the upper atrium lobby on game nights and online at amerks.com.
