Rivermen Help Scout For Food

PEORIA, Ill. (October 19, 2009) - On Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. the W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of American will hold a press conference in the Great Hall of the Peoria Civic Center to discuss the Scouting for Food Campaign.

As part of the W.D. Boyce Council's strategic initiative, youth will be scouting for food in local neighborhoods hanging Scouting for Food plastic bags and then collecting the non-perishable food items on Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 9 p.m. The W.D. Boyce Council has set a goal of collecting 75,000 pounds of food to be distributed at local food pantries, food banks and soup kitchens.

Any fans dropping off goods at the Peoria Civic Center on Oct. 24, will receive one free ticket to the Rivermen game on Dec. 15 against Grand Rapids.

United Way President Michael Stephan; Commerce Bank representative Sandy Beneventi, Peoria Civic Center representative Marc Burnett, and Rivermen COO Josh Morin will attend the press conference to show their support for the Scouting the Food campaign.
