
Bulldogs Fall to Moose

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 2-1 in overtime by the Manitoba Moose. The loss ends the 'Dogs three-game winning streak but extends their point streak to five games.
Ryan White was awarded a penalty shot at 12:33 of the first period. White opted to shoot on the break but Manitoba starting goaltender Cory Schneider made the save with his blocker.
After two scoreless periods, the Moose opened the game's scoring at 6:43 of the third period. Matt Pettinger fed a pass to Sergei Shirokov, who skated down the right side boards. Shirokov rifled a shot from the right hash-mark that sailed over the glove of Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 8:44 of the final frame. Brock Trotter received a pass from Andre Benoit before feeding a pass to Ryan Russell, who was positioned in the slot. Russell one-timed a shot that beat Schneider on the blocker side.
The game went into extra minutes with the game tied 1-1. Nolan Baumgartner sealed the win for Manitoba with a goal at 2:49 of the extra frame. Baumgartner grabbed a loose puck in front of the net before shovelling the puck underneath a sprawled Sanford.
The Bulldogs will host the Manitoba Moose for the second night in a row tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
