Peoria Rivermen News Release

Milwaukee, WI (February 16, 2007) - Down by two goals at the start of the third period, the Peoria Rivermen tied the contest midway through the final frame, but failed to notch any points as they fell to the Milwaukee Admirals 4-3 Friday night in front of 10,205 at the Bradley Center.

Peoria (26-20-2-2, 56 pts) did not have many scoring chances as it mustered a season-worst 15 shots, five each period, in its first regulation loss in the month of February. Peoria is 1-4-1-0 and has lost four in a row versus the Admirals this season.

The Rivermen got on the board first as left wing Charles Linglet tallied his team-leading 24 th goal of the season at 3:31 of the opening session. Center Konstantin Zakharov dropped the puck off to Linglet in the left face-off circle, where he ripped a shot that Milwaukee netminder Pekka Rinne got a piece of, but the puck had enough momentum to squirt through Rinne's legs and into the net.

Milwaukee, (27-19-4-6, 64 pts) whose last nine wins have all been by one goal, responded with a power play goal at 14:24 of the first frame. Left wing Chris Durno controlled the puck in his own zone and began skating down the right-wing boards. At the right point, Durno was able to split two Peoria defenseman and once he reached the right face-off circle, lifted the puck over the blocker of Rivermen goaltender Jason Bacashihua for his eighth marker of the year.

Just 2:20 later, Durno notched his second goal of the game and ninth overall to give the Admirals a 2-1 advantage. Center Cal O'Reilly held the puck behind the goal line, just to the right of Bacashihua, and then dished it off to a wide-open Durno just to the left of the slot, where he blasted a one-timer that slipped between the legs of Bacashihua.

The Admirals struck again at 10:22 of the middle period. Defenseman Mikko Lehtonen launched a shot from the left point that was deflected in the slot by Durno past the left arm of Bacashihua for his third goal of the game. It is Durno's second career professional hat trick and the first time an opponent has scored three times against the Rivermen since Jason Krog of the Chicago Wolves did so on November 4. Peoria has yet to record a hat trick this season.

Peoria made the game 3-2 as right wing Kevin Croxton, who was just recalled from the ECHL Alaska Aces on Wednesday, scored his first goal with the Rivermen at 5:39 of the final stanza. Defenseman Aaron MacKenzie started at the left point and skated down the left-wing boards and then threw a centering pass into the slot when he reached the goal line. Croxton took the puck and slid it past the left skate of Rinne.

The Rivermen tied the game 3-3 at 11:50 of the last session on center Ryan Ramsay's seventh goal of the 2006-07 campaign. Zakharov flipped a shot on net that was stopped by Rinne and the puck fell to the ice at the goalmouth, where Ramsay walked in at poked it into the cage.

The tie game was short-lived, as Milwaukee regained the lead for good at 13:32 of the third period. From behind the net, just to the left of Bacashihua, left wing John Laliberte fed defenseman Sheldon Brookbank, who was skating toward the net in the high slot, where he whipped a shot that slid through a screen and flew above the right shoulder of Bacashihua. It was the 10th goal of the season for Brookbank.

The Rivermen fell to 10-9-1-2 on the road and will travel to Omaha to take on the Knights, who are 2-4-0-1 in their last seven games, in a Saturday matinee. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
