Rochester Americans News Release

Game Notes: The Rochester Americans will host the Manchester Monarchs tonight at The Blue Cross Arena for the first time ever. The Amerks will look to halt a streaking Manchester team that has won 12 straight games. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.

Head-to-Head: Rochester is 1-0-0 all-time against Manchester, with their only meeting on November 4, 2006, ending in a 2-1 Amerks win. David Booth and Stefan Meyer combined for the Amerks' pair of goals, while Adam Dennis made 26 saves in net to pick up the win. The Amerks outshot the Monarchs 41-27 in the contest.

Amerks Notes: Rochester leads the North Division with 69 points (34-16-1-0). The Amerks are 5-5-0 in their last 10, but have struggled of late, going 1-4-0 in their last five games. One Amerk that has not struggled recently is forward Michael Ryan. Ryan is currently on a three-game point streak (3+3) and registered a natural hat trick last Sunday in Hamilton. Janis Sprukts has been holding his own among the youth of the American Hockey League, as he leads league rookies with 31 assists and is seventh among first-year AHLers with 42 points (11+31). Brandon Smith has been leaving his mark on the score sheet, as he is third among league defensemen with 33 points (8+25).

Manchester Notes: The Monarchs, winners of 12 straight, lead the Atlantic Division with a record of 34-12-6-1 and 75 points, 13 points better than second-place Providence. Monarchs' goaltender Jason LaBarbera leads the league with a .934 save percentage and is in the top five in every other major goaltending category. Left winger Noah Clarke leads the team in point-scoring with 42 (19+23), and goals with 19.

Next Game: The Amerks will head down the thruway to take on the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter Saturday night in the seventh of 12 scheduled meetings this season. The 7:30 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.
