Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN --- Derek Landmesser's power play goal 1:26 into overtime gave the Memphis RiverKings a wild 7-6 win Saturday night over the Tulsa Oilers in Tulsa Saturday night. The RiverKings have won four straight and went 5-2-0 on their seven game road trip. The RiverKings return home for the first time since December 19 tomorrow as they host the Corpus Christi Rayz in a 5:05 start at the DCC.

In what was a see-saw game, the RiverKings built a 3-1 lead early in the wild eight goal second period, only to have the Oilers score the next four to take 5-3 lead. The RiverKings would then counter with three straight of their own to take a 6-5 advantage into the third period. Tulsa scored the only goal of the third to force the overtime.

Jason Sessa scored two goals and added an assist to lead the RiverKings offensively. Defensively, Brad Buss came in to relieve Larry Starling and played the final 34:43 and stopped 14 of 15 shots to pick up his first win as a RiverKing. Memphis was also eight for eight on the penalty kill.

Also scoring for the RiverKings were Rick Kozak, Steve Makway, Phil Aucoin and Ryan Campbell. Landmesser added a pair of assists to go with his game winner with Louis Dumont and Jason Tessier also picking up two assists each.

The RiverKings improved to 21-6-3 with win and maintain their six point lead over Bossier-Shreveport in the Northeast Division.
