Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss â The two-time defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings announced various roster moves on Tuesday, signing free agent forward Ryan Courtney and placing forward/defenseman Stephen Margeson on the 45-day injured reserve list.
Courtney, a 6'3", 205-pound Centerman from Ennismore, Ontario, is a professional rookie, having started his career this season with the Tulsa Oilers. Through 13 games with the CHL Oilers, Courtney finished with two points (1G, 1A) and seven penalty minutes.
He joins a RiverKings squad that is suffering a personnel shortage due to injuries and players being called up via the team's affiliation agreement with the Maple Leafs organization.
That personnel shortage was exacerbated this past weekend, when forward/defenseman Stephen Margeson was placed on 45-day injured reserve for injuries suffered during the RiverKings' 4-3 victory over the Fort Worth Brahmas.
The RiverKings are also without either of their starting goaltenders. Goalie Mike Minard was called up to the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League, where he has posted a 1-0-1 record. Netminder Jean-Francois Racine was suspended by the league for six games for his actions in the contest versus the Wichita Thunder this past Thursday.
The RiverKings will be in action again this coming Thursday, as they match up once again versus the Thunder at the DeSoto Civic Center. Gametime is set for 7:05 pm.
All 64 RiverKings games can be heard on Easy 680 AM, as well as worldwide via SportsJuice.com. Select RiverKings games will also be available through CHL TV, a league-wide video streaming enterprise. CHL TV is available at www.CHLTV.com. Information on the RiverKings, including the latest roster moves, press releases, and pictures, is available at www.riverkings.com.
Season, group, and individual game tickets are available. For more information, telephone (662) 342-1755.
