
Dodge "Be An All-Star" Sweepstakes Winners Announced

The Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the New Mexico Scorpions and leading auto dealer Dodge, today announced the recipients of the 2004 Dodge "Be An All-Star" Sweepstakes. Each of the two winners of the Dodge "Be An All-Star" Sweepstakes receive roundtrip airfare for two to Albuquerque, two nights at the Marriott alongside all CHL delegates, two tickets to the All-Star Game Banquet, two tickets to the All-Star Game, an official personalized All-Star jersey, and will be specially recognized on the ice along with the CHL All-Stars prior to the January 22nd All-Star Game. The winners will also sit with their conference All-Star representatives on the bench during a portion of the game.
Joining the Southern Conference All-Star team is 25-year-old Ice Bats fan Julie Myers from Austin, Texas. "I can't believe I actually won! I'd like to thank Dodge and the New Mexico Scorpions for allowing me the chance to win such an awesome prize! I'm really looking forward to going to the All Star game this year!" said Myers when informed one of her entries had been randomly drawn from a total of over 20,000 submitted.
Added to the Northern Conference All-Star team is 54-year old Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs supporter Don Frazier from Frierson, Louisiana. "Both the Dodge Motor Company and the New Mexico Scorpions Hockey Club are proud sponsors of the 2004 CHL All-Star Game that will showcase the top talent in the League. I am thrilled to be joining the All-Star ranks and would like to offer a special thank you to the front office staff of the New Mexico Scorpions," said Frazier.
Also announced today was the naming of both the Northern and Southern Conference All-Star teams. The Northern Conference squad will take to the ice known as the "Rams", while their counterparts in the Southern Conference will be recognized as the "Vipers" to recognize two members of Dodge's outstanding fleet of vehicles. In conjunction with the All-Star Game, a randomly selected fan in attendance will have an opportunity to win a Dodge vehicle valued at $25,000.00 during an All-Star Game intermission. CHL All-Star festivities begin Wednesday, January 21st with the All-Star Media Luncheon, followed by the CHL All-Star Banquet later that day with special guest speaker Phil Esposito, NHL legend and a 1984 inductee into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Pointstreak Performance of the Week 4-time Central Hockey League All-Star center Travis Clayton of the Wichita Thunder reached two significant career milestones on Saturday, January 10th in a 4-2 win at Lubbock. In the contest he recorded both his 300th career assist and his 500th career point as a member of the Thunder. In his six previous full seasons, the consistent and durable Clayton has average 35.1 goals, 45.6 assists, and 76.8 points each year. Clayton also leads Wichita with six game winning goals this season.
