SCORPIONS RECAP â
WICHITA 4, SCORPIONS 1 â The Thunder ended the Scorpions' three-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory on Tuesday to open New Mexico's four-game road trip. Mike Possin tied the game at 1-1 in the first period, just 1:10 after Wichita had taken the lead. Wichita scored 54 seconds into the second before adding two power play goals early in the third. Miguel Beaudry made 22 saves in goal for the Scorpions
SCORPIONS 2, MEMPHIS 1 (OT) â Mike Oliveira scored 1:23 into overtime to give the Scorpions a 2-1 victory at Memphis and a season sweep of the two-game series with the two-time defending President's Cup champions. Chris Richards scored a power play goal midway through the second to give New Mexico the lead, but the RiverKings forced overtime midway through the third period on a two-man advantage. Erik Adams had two assists for the Scorpions, who outshot Memphis 32-18 for the game.
INDIANAPOLIS 4, SCORPIONS 3 â A furious Scorpions rally fell just short as Indianapolis jumped out to a 4-0 lead on Saturday before holding off the resilient Scorps for a 4-3 win. Vladimir Hartinger and Peter Ambroziak scored in the final 2:21 of the second period to make the score 4-2 before Ambroziak added another goal just 1:28 into the third with the Scorpions enjoying a 4-on-3 power play. Danny Lorenz made 28 saves for New Mexico.
INDIANAPOLIS 1, SCORPIONS 0 â Former Scorpion Dave Gilmore scored his third goal in as many games against New Mexico this season at the 9:04 mark of the second period to give Indianapolis a 1-0 victory on Sunday and a sweep of the two-game series. The win gave the Ice a season sweep of the three games with the Scorpions, with all three wins coming by one goal. The Scorpions killed off all six Indy power plays, including a five-minute boarding penalty against Vladimir Hartinger that straddled the first and second periods. Miguel Beaudry stood out in goal with 36 saves.
SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS â
