Ice Bats Announce Concert Series
January 13, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Austin Ice Bats News Release
Austin's rich live music scene will be celebrated, as the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League kick off the "Crown Royal Concert Series" this Saturday, January 17th at the Travis County Expo Center.
Country-rockers "Reckless Kelly" will perform live following the Ice Bats' home game against Lubbock. The series will also include a performance from local rock band "Vallejo" following the Ice Bats game on Saturday, February 7th. Additional bands may also be scheduled to perform this season.
This Saturday's festivities at the Expo Center begin at 4:30pm, as the University of Texas men's hockey club faces Baylor. The Ice Bats' game against Lubbock will follow at 7:30pm, with free souvenir pucks to 3,000 fans, courtesy of Henna Chevrolet. The concert by "Reckless Kelly" then follows the conclusion of the Ice Bats' game.
Originally from Oregon but based in Austin since 1997, "Reckless Kelly" has been one of the local music scene's most popular acts. The band's new video, "Nobody's Girl," recently received airplay on County Music Television. Using Texas as the staging point for their current tour throughout the South, "Reckless Kelly" is also scheduled to perform in Mexico, the Netherlands and France over the coming months.
This Saturday's game is the second of two at home for the Ice Bats this weekend. The Bats will host Rio Grande Valley Friday night, and will go into that key Southeast Division battle with a one point lead over the third-place Killer Bees.
Tickets to both home games are now available at all Texas Box Office locations, including the Ice Bats ticket office and all Austin-area HEB stores. On-line ordering is available through www.TexasBoxOffice.com. To charge by phone, fans may call Texas Box Office at (512) 477-6060, or the Ice Bats ticket office at (512) 927-PUCK.
