Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Laredo Bucks and Amigo Broadcasting announced last night they will broadcast six Bucks Central Hockey League games in Spanish on Laredo News Talk AM 1490 KLNT.
The announcement was made on Bucks Weekly, the brand new hour long radio program that allows fans an opportunity to learn more about hockey and the Laredo Bucks.
"We are thrilled and very excited about this," said Buck President John Beckelhymer. "We realize how important it is to reach out to the Spanish speaking population in both Laredo and Nuevo Laredo. This allows us an opportunity to expand the reach for both hockey and the Laredo Bucks."
Laredo News Talk AM 1490 is part of the Dallas Cowboys Spanish radio network.
"We are proud to further the relationship between Amigo Broadcasting and the Laredo Bucks," said Operations Manager and Program Director Ruben Villarreal. "We are eager to serve our sister city, Nuevo Laredo, and bring the game of hockey to our Spanish speaking population."
The first game broadcast in Spanish will be Tuesday, January 20th, when the Bucks host the Lubbock Cotton Kings at the LEC.
"This is something that I think is very important for the organization," said Bucks Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting Joe Dominey. "Nearly 94 percent of the people in Laredo speak some Spanish. All our press releases contain both English and Spanish and this is another way to help us connect to people and share the game of hockey and the Bucks."
Luis Villarreal, General Manager of Amigo Broadcasting, will call the games in Spanish for AM 1490.
El Manana newspaper will be a major sponsor of the broadcasts. El Manana will run ads promoting the games that will be broadcast in Spanish.
