Two-Game Home Set with Thunder this Weekend

SCORCHING SANGER: Two goaltending clinics were put on last week by netminder Jeff Sanger as his perfect glove led the Ice to 1-0 victories over Tulsa and New Mexico during last week's play. The native of Madison, WI turned back 37 shots and three of four in the shootout in the win against Tulsa and roared back on Sunday with a 29-save blanking of New Mexico. He has three shutouts on the year and is now 7-3-0 with a 2.70 GAA and .918 save percentage in his last ten games.

SILENCING THE THUNDER: The Ice has had the Wichita Thunder's number the past few seasons as the team is 4-0-0 in four games this year and has compiled a 17-0-1 record in the last 18 meetings. Wichita's last win over the Ice was a 4-3 shootout victory back on 1/18/03. Bernie John has enjoyed his Kansas neighbors as he has amassed 54 points (15G, 39A) in five seasons against Wichita, while Jason Baird and Jared Dumba have produced a combined 38 points (18G, 20A) in just under two seasons against the Thunder.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Ice is currently riding a five-game home winning streak and all five of those victories have been of the one goal variety. The five-game stretch has included a pair of wins over New Mexico and Corpus Christi and started with a 3-2 win back on 12/28/03 against Wichita. During the team's five-game run, the Ice has held its opponents to just 2.20 goals/game.

PLAYER NEWS: Bernie John leads all CHL defensemen in scoring with 45 points and has points in ten of his last 11 games....Jason Baird has 11 points (4G, 7A) in his last seven games and 23 points (7G, 16A) in his last 14 contests...John and Baird rank in a tie for eighth in the CHL in scoring ...Jared Dumba is riding a three-game point streak and has eight points (5G, 3A) in his last seven games...Dave Gilmore brings a three-game point streak into this week's play (2G, 1A).

TEAM NEWS: The Ice is second in the CHL on the power play (36-186, 19.4%)...The Ice is third in the league in goals scored/game (3.31) and shots/game (33.64)...The Ice is 15-3-0 when leading after two periods.

STERLING MARLIN IN THE FIELDHOUSE: Saturday night's game from Conseco Fieldhouse will be the Ice's first ever NASCAR Night with the Ice as Winston Cup driver Sterling Marlin will be making a special appearance at the game to sign autographs. In addition, Marlin's Coors Light Dodge show car will be on hand. Fans can participate in a special pit stop competition for a chance to win a pair of tickets to this year's local NASCAR event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tickets range from $12 to $22 for the game.

· A four-goal first period by the Blazers proved to be too much for the Ice...Jason Baird had three points and Jared Dumba tallied two goals in the loss

ICE EDGES SCORPIONS IN 4-3 VICTORY

· Nine different players registered points in the game with markers coming from Joe Guenther, Dave Gilmore, Jared Dumba and Ken Boone.

SANGER STINGS SCORPIONS IN 1-0 VICTORY

· Goaltender Jeff Sanger recorded his second shutout of the week with 29-save outing... Dave Gilmore's second period tally was the lone goal needed.
