Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, Texas – The Central Hockey League announced late yesterday afternoon that Laredo Bucks forward Chris Grenville has been selected the Bauer / Nike CHL Player of the Week. The Bucks travel to Corpus Christi on Friday and then return home on Saturday against the Odessa Jackalopes at the LEC. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. For tickets or more information call (956) 718-BUCKS (2825) or go online at www.laredobucks.com.

Grenville led the Bucks, who have the best record in the CHL at 30-5-2, with five goals in four games this past week. Two of his five goals were game winners and he had five assists. He is tied for fourth in the CHL with 23 goals.

"Chris started slow this year, but he is really heating up," said Bucks head coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "He has gotten comfortable with his line mates and that has translated into his play. He's shooting the puck with confidence and making plays in front of the net. Chris is working hard and it shows my young players that if you work hard good thing will happen."

Grenville was recently selected to participate in the CHL All-Star Game on January 22nd in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Last year in Oklahoma City he scored four goals and was the CHL All-Star Game MVP. He has currently scored a goal in six straight games and in ten of the last 11.

"It was a great week for the team as we won all four games," said Grenville. "We've gotten off to a terrific start and right now the team is on a big high."

Grenville is part of the ‘Three Amigo' line which features Jeff Bes and Brent Cullaton. The trio has combined for 68 goals and all three rank in the top ten in the CHL in goals scored.

This is the fourth CHL award this year for the Bucks. Bes was selected as the CHL Player of the Week earlier this season and forwards Cullaton and Patrik Nilson have both been honored as CHL Players of the Month.
