
RiverKings Announce Playoff Schedule, Finish Regular Season in Wichita

WICHITA, KS --- The Mississippi RiverKings have announced the schedule of games for the first round Central Hockey League Berry Conference best-of-five playoff series with the Tulsa Oilers. The pairings came about by the RiverKings clinching the sixth seed in the post-season series while Tulsa finished third in the conference seedings.
The post-season schedule for the series between the RiverKings and Oilers is as follows:
Tulsa vs. Mississippi (all times PM)
Game 1 - Thu., Mar. 31 - Mississippi at Tulsa, 7:05
Game 2 - Fri., Apr. 1 - Mississippi at Tulsa, 7:35
Game 3 - Sun., Apr. 3 - Tulsa at Mississippi, 5:05
*Game 4 - Tue., Apr. 5 - Tulsa at Mississippi, 7:05
*Game 5 - Sat., Apr. 9 - Mississippi at Tulsa, 7:35

Mississippi finished its regular season this afternoon in an 8-1 loss to the Thunder in Wichita. The Thunder took the lead in the first period by scoring three goals, one of which came on the power play, while outshooting the RiverKings 14-13 in the opening frame. Dustin Donaghy scored two goals and Troy Schwab netted the power play goal in between the two Donaghy markers for the first period advantage.
Wichita added to the lead in the second period with a shorthanded goal from Aaron Davis for a 4-0 lead after two periods of play.
The Thunder added four more goals in the third period before the RiverKings broke up the shutout bid with a power play goal from Chris Richards, whose deflection found the back of the net at 17:07 of the final period for the final 8-1 score. Derek Landmesser and Matt Summers were given assists on the goal, Richards' 20th goal of the year and tenth power play tally.
Mississippi outshot the Thunder 45-41 in the offensive-minded season finale. Alexander Pechurskiy was tagged with the loss with 22 saves and seven goals allowed in 48 minutes of action. Larry Sterling was 11-of-12 in his 12 minutes of work in the second period.
Marty Magers was the winning goaltender for Wichita, stopping 44-of-45 at the crease.
Wichita scored twice on the power play (2-for-6) and scored two shorthanded goals. Missisisppi was 1-for-7 with the extra man.
The RiverKings end the regular season with a 30-31-5 record, while Wichita finishes the regular season with a 34-26-6 mark.
