
PrairieThunder to face Fort Wayne in Conference Quarterfinals

It's on to the playoffs as the Bloomington PrairieThunder will face the Fort Wayne Komets in the best-of-five opening round of the Central Hockey League playoffs. The PrairieThunder earned the third seed in the Turner (Northern) Conference after falling to the Evansville IceMen 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Bloomington finishes the regular season at 37-22-7, good for 81 points, one point better than fourth place Missouri.
In Sunday's game, Bloomington took an early 1-0 lead on Jason Deleurme's goal at 13:45 of the first period. But Evansville would go to the intermission with a 2-1 lead. In the second period at 6:53, Jon Booras scored his 20th goal of the season to tie the game at two. And after a scoreless third period and overtime frame, Evansville's Jeff Christian would score the game winner in the shootout.
Bloomington has earned home ice for the best of five Turner Conference Quarterfinals which begin next weekend. The PrairieThunder will play games #1 & #2 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday, April 2nd @ 7:05pm and Sunday, April 3rd @ 3:05pm. Here's the entire first round schedule vs. Fort Wayne:

Game #5: Sunday, April 10th: Fort Wayne @ Bloomington (3:05pm) (If necessary)

Playoff ticket packages for the upcoming Central Hockey League Playoffs which begin next Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd and 2011-12 PrairieThunder Season Tickets are now on sale. Call the PrairieThunder office during the week at 309-585-0507 for additional information or stop by the PrairieThunder information table during PrairieThunder home games. The CHL playoffs consist of four rounds. If Bloomington has home ice advantage in every round, the team could play a maximum of fourteen additional home playoff games.
