Brahmas Record Loss Against Bucks, Playoffs Now Set
March 27, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 27)- The postseason has now begun for the Brahmas as they concluded the regular season in a 6-5 loss to Laredo Sunday afternoon.
A strong offensive push began for the Brahmas in the first with three goals from Ryan Bennett, Greg Hogeboom and Chad Woollard. Brian Matte was the lone Bucks player to beat Wayne Savage in the opening frame.
Laredo, who was eliminated from a playoff run last night, gave their fans a last ¬Ëhurrah' as they put up four goals in the second, all even strength. Woollard put the wind back in the Brahmas' sails when he netted his second of the evening with assists from linemates Hogeboom and Jason Deitsch. Mick Lawrence recorded a powerplay goal in the third to tie the game, but with just 1:13 remaining in the game Justin Styffe pumped the puck past Savage for the game winner.
With the loss, the Brahmas now will face the Odessa Jackalopes in the opening round of the CHL playoffs. The schedule for the best of five series against the ¬ËJacks will be the following:
Game 1 - Thu., Mar. 31 - Odessa at Texas, 7:00
